Up and Running
Hi! I have some GREAT news!
Last Wednesday, I had my 6-week postpartum check-up and I got cleared to resume exercising! So you can bet your butt that when Dave got home after work, I went for a run while he had some quality daddy-daughter time!
The verdict? I LOVE it. It rides smoothly, is quiet and is easy to operate. The only thing I need to get used to is that the front deck comes out farther than the display panel and since I run so close to the front of treadmills I kept tripping on it at first. Smooth, I know.
You can also save your runs on it and plug in your music so it comes out the speakers. I haven’t used that feature yet, but I look forward to it.
I didn’t know what to expect from my first run, so I didn’t want to set any distance or speed goals. I just wanted to run. I ended up doing a little over 2 miles, including a 5-minute walking warm-up and a few walk breaks throughout. It wasn’t fast or far, but it felt so great.
On Friday morning, I heaved myself out of bed after a 4:45am nursing and did another 35 minute run, again including a 5-minute walking warm-up and a few walk breaks. This time I pounded out 2.7 miles!
Late Friday morning, Dave, Riley, and I packed up and headed to Berks County for the weekend. Sunday was my grandmom’s birthday and Monday Dave had a work meeting in town. Which means we were home for the #Snowpocalypse!!
Saturday morning, not even halfway through the storm!
I love, love, love snow and have been waiting for a blizzard for forever. So getting 2+ feet in 24 hours was so much fun. Of course, I’m glad we didn’t have to drive anywhere and I hope everyone stayed safe! My workouts for the weekend included shoveling and more shoveling…which I also really enjoyed. I’m twisted, I know.
I will admit, that I wanted to build an igloo and make snow angels, but my parental, responsible side knew that Riley was too young for those. Instead, we waited until Sunday to take her out.
She didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I did! She’ll learn.
Back in the ‘Burgh we only got 6-8 inches(?) I’m not completely sure, but I’m super glad we made it back to Berks to enjoy the heart of the storm!
Snow pile in our cul-de-sac!
Did you all enjoy the snow?? How much did you get? How do you get your workouts in when it snows?
